Production years and key changes
Mercedes introduced the first GLE Coupe (chassis code C292) in 2015 as a direct rival to the BMW X6. It shared its bones with the outgoing M-Class/GLE and carried the sloping roofline that defines the segment.
USCar Trader import service
Choose a specific vehicle. Where data is available, its detail page shows the import cost calculation. We assess any possible duty benefit with you before purchase.
Important: A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact us before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support through the process. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

The GLE Coupe is the fastback answer to the more upright GLE, and the American used market is one of the best places to find one.

Model profile
Mercedes introduced the first GLE Coupe (chassis code C292) in 2015 as a direct rival to the BMW X6. It shared its bones with the outgoing M-Class/GLE and carried the sloping roofline that defines the segment.
Powertrain and equipment
The core C167 engine in the US is the M256 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six in the GLE 450 Coupe, making roughly 362 hp with a 48-volt EQ Boost mild-hybrid starter-generator that adds brief torque fill and smooths stop-start.
The GLE Coupe is a five-seat coupe-SUV only — there is no seven-seat option, and the raked tailgate trades some cargo height for style.
Vehicle selection
Supply is healthy.
This car makes sense for a buyer who wants the presence of a full-size Mercedes SUV with a sportier profile and a specification level that is hard to match in Europe for the money.

Pre-purchase review
The GLE Coupe is broadly dependable, but it is a complex luxury SUV and the weak points are worth knowing before you buy. AIRMATIC air suspension is the classic long-term cost: leaking struts and a tired compressor show up as a car that sags overnight or rides harshly.
Germany and Europe
US-market cars run amber side markers, different headlight beam patterns, mph-primary instruments and no factory rear fog lamp — all items the TUEV will expect to see corrected.
US-market headlights use the FMVSS/SAE beam pattern, which differs from the ECE pattern required in the EU, so they may need adjustment or replacement with ECE-compliant units for registration.
USCar Trader services
As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.
Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.
Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.
Import process
The assessment depends on the specific vehicle and the circumstances of the transaction. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review any possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are considered separately.
Questions and answers
Whether a duty benefit may be available for the specific vehicle is assessed individually. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the case and provide non-binding support through the process.
No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Import VAT and other taxes or costs are assessed separately under the applicable rules and the circumstances of the specific transaction. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase so the calculation reflects the selected vehicle.
The GLE 450 with the M256 inline-six balances performance, refinement and running costs well. The AMG cars are quicker but more expensive to maintain.
Air suspension wear, occasional 48-volt electrical faults, MBUX software quirks and normal AMG brake/tyre consumption are the items to check.
Ocean freight plus clearance and TUEV approval typically span several weeks; the exact timing depends on sailing schedules and inspection slots.
Yes. It follows the same process; expect the same TUEV modifications and higher ongoing service costs.
Available VIN, title and history information can be reviewed in the vehicle profile. USCar Trader can also arrange a separately booked on-site inspection within a scope agreed in advance.
